Digimon Survive teaser trailer, gameplay

Bandai Namco debuted the teaser trailer, first gameplay footage, and new details for Digimon Survive during its Digimon Thanksgiving 2018 live stream today.
In Digimon Survive, the protagonist Takuma Momotsuka, whose name cannot be changed since he talks and others will call him by name, is mysteriously transported from camp to another world. He and others will survive in this world at close quarters with death while exploring and making various choices. One of the game’s key features is “growth that changes based on choice.” The multi-ending story and digivolutions will change based on those choices, and several characters may even die. According to Digimon game series producer Kazumasa Habu, he wanted to incorporate “the digivolution of partner Digimon through character development” as seen in the Digmon Adventure anime into the game system.
The story develops through drama parts consisting of exploration, conversations with characters, and events, while turn-based strategy RPG battles play out through battle parts. Digimon can digivolve during battle by meeting certain conditions and consuming Energy. Energy can be recovered by attacking enemies and talking to Digimon during battle. The latter can also extend digivolution time. While there are about 100 playable Digimon, Habu noted that Digimon Survive places more emphasis on the story than it does collecting Digimon. Also, unlike the Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth games, there are essentially no sci-fi elements in Digimon Survive.
Also during the live stream, Digimon game series producer re-confirmed that a new Digimon Story is currently in development. Habu first mentioned the new Digimon Story game in December 2017.
Digimon Survive is due out for PlayStation 4 and Switch in 2019 in Japan.

The Switch has hit yet another milestone in Japan. Since launch, the platform has managed to move 5 million units of software at retail. Obviously that doesn't include digital sales for those titles, or sales of games that only exist on the eShop. With all that said, it's still great to see the Switch bringing some momentum back to the physical side of gaming in Japan.

ACHTUNG! CTHULHU TACTICS DELIVERS A TWISTED LOVECRAFTIAN WORLD WAR II TURN-BASED RPG IN Q4 2018

Ripstone Games sent out the following

Ripstone Games are proud to announce that it’s teamed up with developer Auroch Digital to release the occult turn-based strategy game Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics in Q4 2018 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. A Nintendo Switch release will follow later this year.
Based on the wildly successful tabletop RPG from Modiphius Entertainment, Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics is set in an alternate World War II where the Nazis have gained a considerable advantage by summoning Lovecraftian monsters that could enable them to destroy the allies. Players take control of Charlie Company, an elite band of allied forces, sent in to do the impossible, foil the Nazi plans and turn the tide of war.
“We loved Modiphius’ pulp mash-up of World War II Nazis and the Cthulhu Mythos. It’s an incredibly evocative and exciting alternate history which makes for a unique tabletop experience” said Nina Adams, Producer at Auroch Digital. “We’re taking that nigh-on faultless foundation and transporting it into the video game medium, via our favourite genre, the turn-based tactics game. With the genre experiencing something of a comeback in recent years, we feel Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics will not only deliver an incredibly compelling theme and world to play in, but also offer innovative gameplay possibilities.”
Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics utilizes a mix of turn-based strategy and RPG mechanics as players embark on a globetrotting campaign against the forces of evil. Each hero character features their own backstory, weapon specialisations and combat abilities to give players an edge in the battlefield. Captain Eric “Badger” Harris is a British Intelligence operative who specializes in experimental weaponry and guerrilla warfare; Ariane Dubois is a French Resistance member who’s bonded with a demonic spirit creature that she can command on the battlefield; Corporal Akhee “The Eye” Singh wields a sentient amulet that can transform him into a whirling cloud of blades; and Sergeant Brandon Carter is a loud-mouthed American soldier with a medallion that imbues his signature Thompson submachine gun, with mythos-fuelled bullets that can tear through the Nazi’s horrifying creations.
Beyond these four main heroes, Charlie Company is joined by the covert ops of Badger’s Commando Unit, and the Native American tribe the The Keijn – or “Pathfinder Demon Hunters” as they’re often known. In the world of Achtung! Cthulhu Tactics, all Allied forces fight better in the light. Step into the dark, however, and the forces of evil will grow ever more powerful.

Now this is a very different kind of game.

Adventure game Incredible Mandy coming to Switch

Incredible Mandy, the upcoming adventure game from Chinese studio Dotoyou Games, is coming to Switch in addition to its previously announced PC version, publisher Circle Entertainment announced.
While the PC version (Steam page) is due out in late 2018, Circle Entertainment did not announce a release window for the Switch version.
Here is an overview of the game, via Circle Entertainment:
The story follows the protagonist, Mandy, as she looks for memories scattered throughout the dream, challenging and seeking to overcome her fears. She guides her brother in a fantastical tale following a tragic accident that affected both siblings. Having lost his right hand in the accident, the brother’s new hand can summon the Excalibur of Light, symbolizing positive power. Players will tackle obstacles, unlock puzzles, defeat huge enemies and collect forgotten memories, all within scenes and settings that incorporate a broad range of styles.
The enemies that appear in the game embody the fear from the hearts of the brother and sister. They will prevent you from looking for the memories that are scattered throughout your dreams; defeat them with the Excalibur of Light!
In addition to being a weapon for close combat, the Excalibur of Light can also be inserted anywhere in the scene, including the ground, walls, movable traps, and enemies. It can also be detonated, releasing the power of light.
This is a game that features a broad range of environments, an emotive soundtrack and more. Details on these locations, bosses and more will be shared in the coming weeks and months.
Watch a trailer of the PC version below. Visit the official website here.
